COVID UPDATE

The steps provided below can be can be facilitated by educators or done by children with minimal adult supervision. Considering the current constraints of conducting this activity with kids in person, educators may choose to facilitate the steps via Zoom, Google Meet, MS Teams, FB live and other online video conferencing tools. Once the briefing and instructions have been provided (takes 15 min), the child can do the activity by themselves.

2 SIMPLE STEPS TO SUBMIT YOUR DREAM

STEP 1: Draw your dream and describe it

Any child up to 18 years of age can participate.

Children of all ethnicity, gender, religion, disability* and socio-economic backgrounds are welcome. What matters is their dream!

The first step is to allow children to dream about the India they want in the future. They can draw inspiration from their current environment, social, cultural, digital challenges, UN sustainability goals, among others.

There are 3 simple activities to be done over a 2 hour period (suggested). Children can choose to submit their dream in any of these forms.

  • DRAW/MODEL YOUR DREAM: Visualize the dream in the form of a new experience from the future - 2025 and beyond. Children can use crayons, sketch pens, art and craft materials to draw their dream by hand. They may also choose to build a model with clay, LEGO®, or any scrap materials to create, visualize and express themselves as they wish. They can make their dream look playful, colorful, attractive and as meaningful as possible. We are looking for BIG dreams! (Note: A hi-res scan/pic of the drawing or model needs to be taken. File formats accepted: Hi-res JPEG, PNG, PDF. Make sure the filename starts with child's name for easy identification. File size limit: 5 MB)

  • WRITE ABOUT YOUR DREAM: Describe the dream by writing a letter, poem, essay, short story, memoir, letter or any other creative writing format. Letters may be addressed to the Honorable President of India. Word limit is 200 words. The idea is to let the child express in hand-written or typed. This can be in any language(s). All Indian languages and English are allowed. (Note: If digital, file format accepted are TXT, DOC, PDF. If hand-written, file formats accepted are JPEG, PNG, PDF. Make sure the filename starts with child's name for easy identification. File size limit: 5 MB)

  • TALK ABOUT YOUR DREAM: ALL children, including visually impaired and other children unable to draw/write, are encouraged to submit their dream with an audio or video message in language of their choice (2 min).

Use A4, A3  or any large size paper. Child must mention Name, Age, School/Activity Center & Location on the face/front side of the drawing and letter (not back side).

As a reference, review the dreams provided below, or download the soft copy of the Book of Dreams (request here).

Note: No use of computers, smartphone or any digital technology to sketch or write the letter. Must be hand-written. We want to keep it as personalized as possible.

Caution:

Educators sometimes tend to provide too much direction to children, due to their own excitement of showing a perspective. Please refrain from guiding the child to any particular issue that the neighborhood or country is facing. The child needs to think independently and only dream about what they care about, not from an adult’s point of view. Remember – children have the purest minds, untouched yet by conditioning and pragmatism. Let them express themselves freely!

STEP 2: Capture your dream and send it to us

All submissions are made online. Personal details such as Name, Age, School/Activity Center & Location are mandatory for providing credit.

☞ SINGLE CHILD/INDIVIDUAL submissions - please use this form (file size should be less than 10MB).
